What's included

Everything in Wise Business Setup

Wise Business account application

Opened in your UK company's name, with ownership and control structure declared exactly as it appears on the Companies House register.

Local account details in major currencies

A UK sort code and account number, a EUR IBAN, USD routing details and more, so clients pay you locally instead of via expensive international wires.

Payout destination for Stripe and PayPal

Your UK details are what Stripe and PayPal will pay out to. We configure both sides so money lands where you expect it.

Business verification handled

Wise verifies your company and its owners. We prepare the ownership documents and the business description that verification depends on.

Team and card setup guidance

Where you need them, we walk you through Wise business debit cards and adding team members with the right permissions.

Currency workflow advice

Practical guidance on holding balances versus converting, and how to avoid paying twice when money moves between platforms.

Who this is for

Is this the right fit for you?

Freelancers paid in multiple currencies

Invoice a US client in USD and a German client in EUR, and hold both without forced conversion.

Anyone who needs a Stripe payout account

Stripe UK pays out to a UK bank account. Wise gives you exactly that, without visiting a branch.

Agencies paying overseas contractors

Batch payouts at the mid-market rate cost far less than sending international wires through a traditional bank.

Sellers tired of conversion spreads

If your processor is converting every sale at 2 to 4% above the real rate, holding the currency instead is straightforwardly cheaper.

What you need to provide

  • Certificate of Incorporation and company number
  • Director and shareholder ID documents
  • Proof of address for each person with significant control
  • A description of your business and expected monthly transaction volume
  • The countries you expect to send money to and receive it from
  • Your company's registered office address (we provide this if you are on one of our packages)

Timeline

  1. Day 1

Application submitted with your company and ownership details.

  2. Day 1 to 3

Wise runs business verification and may ask targeted follow-up questions.

  3. Day 2 to 5

Account approved and your UK, EUR and USD account details are issued.

  4. Day 3 to 5

We link the account as the payout destination for Stripe and PayPal.

What we cannot promise

Wise runs its own verification and may decline or later close accounts under its acceptable use policy. High-risk industries and certain sanctioned jurisdictions are outside what it will support. We tell you upfront if your situation looks likely to run into that.

FAQ

Wise Business Setup questions

Is Wise a bank?
Wise is an authorised electronic money institution, not a bank. In the UK your money is safeguarded rather than covered by FSCS deposit protection. For receiving, holding and converting business income it works like a bank account; it is not a place to park long-term savings.
Can Stripe pay out to Wise?
Yes. Your Wise UK sort code and account number are a valid Stripe UK payout destination, and this is the setup most of our clients run.
What does it cost to run?
Wise charges a one-off fee to open the business account (around £45 at the time of writing, paid to Wise directly) and per-transaction fees for conversions. There is no monthly fee. Our fee is for preparing and managing the application.
Can I get a business debit card?
Yes, in most cases, though card availability depends on the director's country of residence. We check this for you before you buy so you are not paying for something you cannot use.
